I’ve been busy, I’ve thankfully been able to incorporate regular exercise into my routine, but also been getting a lot of writing done for my graphic novels. Not a lot a art, just a bunch of the ground work and dialogue.
One thing that’s interesting is how all my stories are linking together quite nicely! I have the same creatures spanning all my stories, reasons for the different types of magic, history for how and why things are the way they are, I’m loving all the connections!
Although this is great, it’s very time consuming. It’s world building, witch ultimately makes your story stronger, because you have an answer and a reason for everything. But world building isn’t writing. At least not in the story’s point of view.
That’s one reason why I haven’t been doing a lot of drawing or painting lately. Because I’ve been world building, but then also writing, and making sure things are linking together how they’re supposed to. It just takes a lot of time.
I’d rather have it take time and the story be fantastic, then to rush through it and not have a solid foundation.
I am getting pretty close to finishing the first draft of the first story. I have about 18 chapters to go! After I finish the first draft, I’m going to go back through and edit it, make sure things run smoothly and clearly. While I’m doing the final write throughs and edits, I am going to start incorporating sketching and drawing up the different settings and characters I’ll be working with. That way I know clearly how I want each character to look and be happy with them before I have to draw them over and over and over again.
I’m excited! I’m tired. Yet I’m also determined that this will succeed and be amazing!
I’ll keep you posted! 🙂
